My process for directing is one that starts with the performer. I like to discover and create work in learning from and collaborating with the cast members in the room. What I strive for most is a product that holds meaning and truth. I encourage my ensemble members to think deeply about the material they’re portraying and to perform it with specificity and conviction. And I encourage them to work together to create a collective vision that is connected, authentic, and purposeful. I see the arts at times as a means for pure entertainment, as well as at times an agent for inspiring personal and social change. I encourage my cast members to give their all to my productions, and I strive for the highest-quality products. I also enjoy bringing a positive energy into the rehearsal room and finding enjoyment in the work we do throughout our journey together. I work to foster a non-competitive, supportive environment where we can laugh, grow, and learn together, as we create art that inspires.
